Yesterday we had some impressive storms come through so last night I tried to shoot lightning from my deck. By the time I figured out how to take pictures of lightning the light show was about over and the rains came. I think that for a first time these are not too bad.

We got some of that rain, but not nearly the amount you got out there on the Banks.
When you feel like taking a day trip, and have the time, you should get on Hwy 158 and head inland to Gates County for a change of pace. Come through the traffic light in Sunbury (you can't miss it, it's the only one in the county)and make a left at the next flashing light...continue down Millpond Rd. for about a mile and you'll be in my absolute favorite place. Bring a canoe or kayak, if you've got one, or rent one here and explore!
